Paramedic Progression
To give you an overview of how you can progress to a UK HCPC Paramedic once you have completed our Ambulance Diploma Course:
1. Become a UK HCPC registered Paramedic
- Recognition of Prior Learning (for the 1st year of the Paramedic Degree) has been granted in the past by the following Universities: Birmingham, Leicester and Sunderland
- More recently Glasgow Caledonian University and University of the West of Scotland (Glasgow) offer Recognition of Prior Learning to FREC5 Graduates for the 1st year of the 3-year Degree in Paramedic Science (subject to entrance assessment)
2. Become a US NREMT registered Paramedic
- Attend a synergy College in Missouri, United States which offers a blended learning Paramedic Program (6 months online study and 4 months residential)
- Once you have completed the Diploma in Paramedicine in Missouri, they will provide you with an option to convert to a degree (BSc) at a University with whom they have a correspondent relationship. This is done via online asynchronous coursework in as little as 9 months.
Once you have completed your US qualifications you are then welcome to approach the HCPC to register as a Paramedic via the international equivalency route. Alternatively, simply remain a Nationally registered Paramedic in the United States.
Route 2 is probably the shortest yet most holistic route as the US curriculum is quite wide and does present a skill range wider than that of a UK Paramedic which is good for international employability. It is also a route which has been well tested by numerous of our Graduates.
