Part-Time Study & Splitting a Course
Can I Attend Part-Time Or In Portions?
We are asked this often, usually by people juggling a full-time job, a family or a military rotation, and we completely understand why. Finding several weeks in one stretch is a real commitment.
Unfortunately the honest answer is no. All Ronin SA courses are full-time, residential programmes that are attended in one continuous block. We are not able to offer part-time, weekend, evening or module-by-module attendance, and a course cannot be split across two or more course dates.
Why We Train This Way
Our courses are intensive and progressive. Each week builds directly on the one before, you train and are assessed as part of the same team throughout and the skills you learn in week one are the ones you rely on in the final exercises. Stepping out halfway would mean losing that momentum and rejoining a group that has moved on without you. Attending in one block is what gives you the best chance of succeeding.
Close Protection Course
The Close Protection Course is a 5-week programme and all five weeks are attended in one go.
Emergency Care Courses
The Ambulance Diploma and the Close Protection Medical Assistant Course (CMAC) share the same 6-week residential contact phase in Cape Town, which is attended in full. FREC 3, FREC 4 and FREC 5 are taught together as one integrated programme, so there is no point at which one qualification ends and the next begins. That is why they cannot be taken one at a time.
The Good News: What Is Flexible
Quite a lot of the Ambulance Diploma happens outside those six weeks, and that part fits around your life:
The online pre-study phase (4 workbooks, 2 to 4 weeks) is completed at home, in your own time, before you arrive.
The 750-hour practical placement for the FREC5 Diploma takes place after the residential phase. You have 18 months to complete it and you are welcome to divide it between more than one approved provider or country.
And if your dates stop suiting you after you have booked, we can move you to a later course. See Postponing your Course.
Returning For An Outstanding Module
You may have heard of learners coming back for a single module. That is something a little different. If you attend the full course and are found not yet competent in one module, we will invite you back to complete it on a later course. See Failing an aspect of the Course. It is there to help you finish, and it is not a way to book a course in parts.
If You Cannot Get The Time Off Right Now
Please do not let that put you off. Many of our learners plan a year or more ahead, saving up leave or arranging a sabbatical to make it happen. Have a look at the upcoming course dates on our website, pick one that gives you enough time to prepare and we will be glad to welcome you when the moment is right.
