Outcomes of the Close Protection Course

The Ronin SA Close Protection Course leads to the SASSETA Close Protection Skills / QCTO Bodyguard Skills Program, the Qualsafe Level 3 Certificate in First Response Emergency Care (FREC3, 2025 RQF Curriculum with Extended Skills Module) and the PFTC Firearms Certificate (Handgun & Carbine) to Tactical Level.

The Course covers the following Outcomes (the firearm unit standards remain Legacy Unit Standards until 06/2029):

• Provide First Aid as an Advanced First Responder (376480 / NQF Level 03)
• Provide Pedestrian Escort to Designated Persons within a Close Protection Environment (244327 / NQF Level 5)
• Provide Static Protection to Designated Persons (244317 / NQF Level 5)
• Provide Close Protection to Designated Persons whilst in Transit (244319 / NQF Level 5)
• Provide Protection to Designated Persons whilst Embussing & Debussing (244334 / NQF Level 5)
• Apply Advanced Driving Skills / Techniques in Defensive & Offensive Situations (115311 / NQF Level 5)
• Demonstrate Knowledge of the Firearms Control Act (117705 / NQF Level 3)
• Handle and Use a Handgun (119649 / NQF Level 3)
• Handle and Use a Handgun for Business Purposes (123515 / NQF Level 4)
• Handle and Use a self-loading Rifle or Carbine (119650 / NQF Level 3)
• Handle and Use a self-loading Rifle or Carbine for Business Purposes (123511 / NQF Level 4)
• Apply Tactical Knowledge in the Use of a Firearm (123510 / NQF Level 4)
