Course Details
A hallmark of our course is the attendance of Observational Frontline Ambulance Shifts which are completed in Cape Town - a city with one of the highest trauma levels in the world.
Let’s take you to the coalface of trauma care!
Our Ambulance Diploma (RPL) Course consists of an online pre-study period which involves the completion of 4 workbooks in your own time (generally takes 2 - 4 weeks) and a 6 week long course contact phase.
After the successful completion of the contact phase, you will be required to complete up to 750hr / 60 shift practise placement as well as a further workbook and essays. This must be completed within 18 months (1.5 years) of contact phase completion.
Casual clothing is acceptable in class, but in addition to this, we have prepared an extensive Packing List for your preparation.
The First Response Emergency Care Diploma (FREUC5) forms the basis for registration as an Ambulance Technician with the Health Practice Associates Council (HPAC) of the United Kingdom for those Graduates that meet their requirements upon successful completion of the Course.
Candidates will cover the same course content as on the full Ambulance Diploma Course. Please note though that due to the nature of recognition of prior learning, the theory content will be covered via Online Self-Study ONLY.
The spectrum of skills and abilities taught on this program have been set at Pre-Hospital Emergency Medicine Framework (PHEM) skills framework descriptor level F
In order to support the remote & austere nature of Close Protection deployments e.g. Private jets, Yachts, Remote Islands, Hostile Environments etc which seperate clients from reasonable access to emergency support infrastructure, we also include the following important, time-sensitive telemetric capabilities:
As part of our post-course support, graduates receive exclusive access to a restricted section of our website, offering valuable resources like CV writing assistance and a searchable graduate database to help form teams and secure local expertise. You’ll also join a closed email group for sharing employment opportunities and industry updates. In addition, our active Chat Group allows real-time sharing of work and resources. We provide a list of employers who prefer to hire our graduates, giving you an edge in the job market here.
Practice Placement
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) toward the 750-hour practice placement (and the related tutorials) may be awarded, in whole or in part, based on individual circumstances.
However, all candidates are still expected to attend requisite monthly tutorial meetings via Zoom, complete the workbook and submit the assigned essays.
These steps ensure every participant gains a solid foundation and fully benefits from the program’s learning experience.
Paramedic Progression
Once you have completed our Ambulance Diploma (RPL) Course, there are various pathways to becoming a registered Paramedic.
Recognition of Prior Learning (for 1st year of the Paramedic Degree) has been granted in the past by the Birmingham, Leicester and Sunderland Universities.
More recently Glasgow Caledonian University and University of the West of Scotland (Glasgow) offer Recognition of Prior learning to Ambulance Diploma / FREC5 Graduates for the 1st year of the 3-year Degree in Paramedic Science (subject to entrance assessment)
Generally, University admission and Recognition / Acknowledgment of Prior Learning is adjudicated on a case-by-case basis and thus each candidate will have to approach these on an individual basis.
Completion of our Ambulance Diploma Course provides you with direct Access to a Missouri College that offers a blended learning Paramedic Program (6 months Online Study, 4 months Residential)
Once you have US Paramedic Registration you are free to apply to the UK HCPC for registration as a Paramedic via the International Equivalency Route (3 months)
Past graduates have been granted Recognition of Prior Learning by the University of Central Queensland for four modules of their BSc Paramedic Science (i.e. Human Body Systems 1 / 2 & Foundations of Paramedic Science 1 / 2)
